Activity Description

You can learn some interesting English idioms through pictures. The idioms have been classified into different groups based on the key word in each idiom.

Preparation

  1. Preview the site.
  2. Decide on which categories to use.
  3. Decide on presentation criteria for student presentations.

How-To

  1. Discuss idioms in English.
  2. Take students to the Web site.
  3. Assign different categories to each student.
  4. Have the students report on what they have learned.

Teacher Tips

Idioms are a source of confusion for many students. This site makes it a bit more fun and also provides graphic (pictorial) support for some of the idioms.

More Ways

Have your students complete some of the interactive exercises or games also in this section. This can be done in teams if you have a projector to project the site or they can be completed individually by students if you have multiple computers in your classroom.
