Activity Description

An informative site for teachers, parents, and students which covers the topics of cyber ethics and cyber crime in a well-done and understandable manner. This activity will highlight the topic "What is Cyber Ethics?" Topics include:

  • What is Cyber Ethics?
  • What is Cyber Crime?
  • Teaching Cyber Ethics
  • Understanding the Internet* (very good)
  • Just for Kids

There are video links to enhance the material.

Preparation

  1. Preview the site to become familiar with how it works.
  2. Explore different subsections. You will find these at the top of the navigation menu. (They are in yellow handwriting type text.)
  3. Print the Example Document, Cyber Ethics 10 Commandments and Summary (above) or send the document to your students digitally.
  4. Watch the videos available
  5. Make notes as to what topics to assign students.

How-To

  1. Discuss the Internet with students.
  2. Discuss Cyber Ethics.
  3. Hand out individual subtopics gathered from the site or have students fill out Example Document Cyber Ethics, 10 Commandments and Summary (above).
  4. In pairs have students read/watch the section regarding their topic.
  5. Have groups work collaboratively to present what they have learned.
  6. Could also be used as a writing project.

Teacher Tips

Group students with low literacy skills with those students with higher skills so all can participate in the assignments.
