Symbaloo for Education

Details

Activity Description

For this activity, create a webmix of Internet resources that you use with your students. Have students download the app or access it on the computer and go to different Internet resources. Symbaloo is a great site to help you organize the online resources you want students to access daily. It gives them one place to access all the class Internet resources.

Preparation

1. Gather all the Internet addresses of sites you use with your students. 2. Go to the example website URL to see an example of how you can arrange your resources. 3. Watch the series of Tutorial Videos at OTAN YouTube videos on how to set up your Symbaloo webmix. 4. Set up your own mix with websites you want to share with your students.

How-To

1. Discuss with your class the many resources available on the Internet. 2. Demonstrate several sites (possible sites: Khan Academy for math, GCF Learnfree many topics, Newsela for reading, Chomp Chomp for grammar) 3. Go to Symbaloo and show the students your class webmix. 4. Assign students to access different sites using Symbaloo.

Teacher Tips

Assemble your tiles by color and location making it easier for students to find the different resources.

More Ways

Symbaloo also lets you create gaming-style learning paths for your students. It is an online lesson including educational resources embedded on the Symbaloo tiles. You can begin with the objectives for the lesson, then add videos, documents, worksheets, questions or interactive games. (to learn more about creating learning paths, ) example of learning path: Once you have enrolled, type in your name to start.
