Activity Description
This activity involves a GED Science practice test, which can be used as an in-class assessment, printed assessment without answers, or supplemental student resource following instruction.

The site was originally set up for the 2002 GED; however, many of the modules are beneficial in preparing for the 2014 GED. All assessments have answers and explanations. This is a commercial site and their intention is to sell their products; however, the practice tests are free.
Preparation
- Go to Test Prep Review The Self-Assessment Modules are found at the bottom of the page. Select “Science Passage ”.
- Be sure the site is not blocked at your school if you want to project the questions on an interactive whiteboard or screen. The test is not interactive and all answers and explanations are found at the bottom of the Web page.
- Copy and paste the test questions to a word processing program of choice and make copies for your class.
How-To
- Present instruction in content area.
- Give students a paper copy of the test and give them time to answer the question(s) on their own.
- Project the questions on a screen or whiteboard and select a student to read the passage.
- Highlight important information in passages and vocabulary.
- Select a student to read question and ask for volunteers to give his or her answer.
- Discuss each answer.
Teacher Tips
- This can also be used in a computer lab; however, students will need an answer sheet to record their answers. Please note that the answers are found at the bottom of the Web page.
More Ways
- There are several other Science practice tests as well as many other self-assessment modules that that could be useful.
- Check the Test Anxiety practice under Test Preparation on the left side list (almost at the bottom of the list) to give students some tips on alleviating test anxiety.
