Activity Description

Mindmoto helps students create mind maps online. They can then share them with others and create presentations. This tool is great for brainstorming collaboratively. The free account offers 3 free mindmaps.

For this activity, students make a mind map, create a presentation of the mind map, and present it to the class.

Preparation

  1. Get an account at Mindmoto external link opens new browser window or tab.Review the tutorials external link opens new browser window or tab and create a sample mind map. 

How-To

  1. Discuss mind mapping as a tool to use for organizing, brainstorming, and pre-writing.
  2. Go to the Web site. Demonstrate how to use it showing the mind maps you created or the example one.
  3. Go through the tutorials together.
  4. Make a mind map together.
  5. Assign students to work in pairs or small groups to create a Mind Map.
  6. Use the Example Document - Using Mindomo to Create a Mind Map for an assignment sheet.
